Samsung TV dead, no standby light un65mu8000 NOT ABOVE LISTED TV

Hi. after combing the diy sites, here is what I’ve come up with. I have Power board BN44-00912A AND MAIN BOARD BN94-12295K.

When I unplug the main board from power board the Back lights WORK. There are 2 cables running from power board to main board.

I replaced the mainboard but this didn’t fix anything (might be DOA but not sure)

I have checked power on the power supply board but there is no pin that is clearly marked STANDBY to look for the 3.3 or 5v.

There are 20 pins on CNM803. The first 5 are GND. The next few are VAMP (not sure what this stands for).

Then they pin out like this:

OD_LEVEL,

FAIL_COUNT

OD_ON/OFF

BLU_ON_OFF

POWER ON/OFF - (i checked this its at 4.5v)

PINS 11-17 A13V PINS 18-20 GND

Well, almost good news.

I got a used mainboard. Installed it. Power is on and picture is up BUT half the screen is darker on one side (some faint lines going from top to bottom on left side of screen when screen is black)

Also, the remote only turns the TV on and off. No other functions. I tried taking out batteries and holding power button to reset but it didn't work

Hi @rgla

The 7.5V standby voltage reference test point is marked on the board.

Here’s a link that may also help with troubleshooting the power board.

Thanks. How do you test on that pin? set meter to VDC and ground black probe on body of tv and touch red probe to pin?

@rgla

That's right.

Screwhead of screw holding board to chassis is usually a good earth.

Also measure anywhere along that jumper strap will do.

Be aware that sometimes the jumper may have developed an oxidized coating so you may have to rub the probe along the jumper a bit to get through to the "bare metal" so to speak just in case you don't initially get a reading.

Be safety aware as there is exposed lethal AC voltage on the "hot" side of the thick black line on the board

Thanks. I checked the jumper strap. I can't turn on the TV but I plugged it in. here are the readings I got.

9v with Main Board cable plugged into power board

12.85 with Main Board DISCONNECTED from power board

Pin 16 Power On/off: shows 96 volts with the main board connected and 4.5 without. 96 seems way high. Could a short be causing that much voltage with the MB connected? 4.5 without seems about right

got a used MB. Put it in and it powers up.

BUT half the screen is darker than the other. What now?
