Why won't my Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.5 sign in to my Google Account?

I haven't used it in quite a while, so I turned it on today and the date was set to1st Jan 2014 for some reason. I set it to the right date and time and then tried to go on the PlayStore, when something popped up that said the password for my Google account was wrong and I had to input my password again. I put in the right password and it still said it was wrong. I changed the password and immediately after put it in and it still said it was wrong. I tried putting it in a few more times before giving up. Please help? Also, why was the date and time off by about 7 years??? By the way, it runs Android 4.4.4 if that is any help.

Update: I have been able to create a new Google account and use that one, but I would like my main one back. Is there any way to do this?

Let's try another method for adding a Google account. Go to Settings>Accounts>Google (or similar). Delete any account entries of your “main" Google account. Now tap “add account” and enter the email for your “main" Google account, then enter the password.

I tried this and it did not work, it still says the password is wrong when it is not. Thank you so much for your efforts, by the way. :]

can you login manually on a computer? IE, insuring you are using the same email & PW and not one stored in a PW manager.
