iPhone not turning on at all

I have a iPhone 8 Plus that my dad got for free at his work. it does not turn on at all, not even using a wireless charger. I have also already tried force restarting it, plugging it into my MacBook, and cleaning it inside and out. the screen is also cracked and the back is the destroyed but I don’t see how that should impact its funcionality.

any help will be appreciated

EDIT: I have tried unplugging the battery and plugging it in, which should make it boot loop, but it just stays black

The first thing you need to do is replace the battery. The screen might work but it also might not. You don’t want to buy a screen if you cannot get the phone to boot. So here is what I would do in your position.

·         Replace the battery and see if it boots.

·         If the screen is not working you might not know it is booting and iTunes will not recognise it if it has a passcode due to the USB restrictions.

·         If iTunes doesn’t recognise it you will have to try putting it in DFU mode. If iTunes than recognises it I would do a restore to make sure it is not iCloud locked (you don’t want to spend money on a iCloud locked phone)

If the above does not work we will need to know what testing equipment you have so as to guide you further as it will most likely be a board issue.
