S7 Edge - stuck in "Recovery Booting" and "Installing system update"
Hi Guys,
I have a At&t Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge that suddenly stopped booting up. The phone was left charging over night and the next day, it just started doing this. The phone turns on, but it keeps going in loop with the 1st screen that says “Recovery Booting” in blue text:
and then the 2nd screen that says “Installing system update”: -
I have tried various key press combinations and so far i am only able to get the phone to go into “Download mode”. I found a post on the official at&t forum that indicated that this maybe a hardware failure so at this point im really just trying to get my files off the internal memory. When i put the phone into download mode, it is recognized by Odin but i havent seen any of the drives show up in windows. I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on what i could try to recover the files that are stuck on the internal storage?
thanks
Is dit een goede vraag?
Hi, did you ever manage to make any progress on this?
I have a similar boot loop on my S7 edge since today, mine starts with your second picture, then changes the text into erasing then I get a black screen with text with various errors (starting with “fail to open recovery_(No such file or directory”) followed by the first screen again ad infinitum.
The only button combination that works is restart but it leads to the same loop.
So: did you make any progress?

@wachtwoord Hi, no, i am not sure what else i can try, i have spent several hours researching this issue online and havent yet found a workable solution. One thought that came to my mind is replacing the battery, but not sure if that will fix anything. Have you tried replacing your battery?

I have not tried that. I have tried following this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8-ccufk... guide but it doesn't work as my phone has FRP lock on. It's silly cause I of course know the login details to the linked google account (its my own) but am still stuck.
Thanks for the response anyway. Do let me know if you think of anything.
Man, I hate embedded devices ...

@wachtwoord I just watched this video, and mine isnt even doing what his shows where he gets a screen with text that scrolls, mine literally just does what i showed in the screenshot. On top of this, i have files on the internal memory that i want to recover/backup so i cant go crazy with flashing either and it looks like after he completes his guide, the whole phone is wiped

The video just show the installation of custom recovery software followed by using that recovery software to stop dm-verify from stopping the boot (I think that's what's stopping the boot in all 3 cases even though they all look slightly different).
I was hoping this indeed should work without losing data as only the recovery is overwritten by a custom one. Of course when you do any flash solution you can't be certain. I also had the aim of saving my data but it looks like I cant even save the phone at this point :(
