Do I need the touch gasket?

Do I need the touch gasket to have the watch turn on? Mine was dropped, and I noticed one of the cables on the gasket got clipped, so I was wondering if I should still be able to turn the screen on without it. Or maybe it's the lcd… IDK…

Yes, you need the touch gasket, for what you describe you may need a new display assembly and crystal.
