Lenovo IdeaPad 100-14IBY ram not working

Hi all,

I have a Lenovo 100-14iby which supports up to 8GB ram. Currently it is working on 2GB. I bought a new ram stick with 8GB (I only have one slot). I have now M471B5674QH0-YK0 and upgraded with KVR16LS11/8.

From what I can see they have all the same specs expect for the memory size, but why won't the 8GB work on the laptop? When I start the laptop I only see a black screen. When I put back the 2GB ram, it works well.

Hope someone could help me. Thanks!

Gekozen oplossing

Hi,

It’s strange that the parts list for the laptop only shows 2GB and 4GB DDR3L 1600 modules and not an 8GB module. {click on Select Commodity > Memory (9)}

Either it only supports up to 4GB or if it does support 8GB then you may have to try another module in case the one you have is faulty or somehow not compatible with the laptop.

Try another 8GB memory stick from Crucial or go with a 4GB stick(I would again recommend Crucial, as they will refund you if the RAM you get doesn't work with your computer).
