Why is my MacBook not charging but was charging a moment ago?

Hi there ,

I have a MacBook Pro and I had plugged the charger in to charge it and I had unplugged the charger to plug in the Ethernet cable , As I have an L shaped power connector I needed to turn this around so that it would charge with the Ethernet cable inside the MacBook .

After I connected the power cable once again I saw nothing , no sign of charge from the charger or from the MacBook itself , I unplugged the power cable and Ethernet cable to plug in the power cable the way I had it before and this way doesn’t work either , I see no signs of wear as in the cable being damaged or frayed at all the charger looks perfectly fine, After trying to change the fuse for the power cable and resetting the SMC on the laptop still nothing , after attempting all the possible solutions without getting a new charger I think I may have tried , because of this my charge on my MacBook is now dead so the MacBook doesn’t turn on and the battery indicator on the side flashes with one bar to show me that the battery is out of charge .

I have also tried leaving the charger to “rest “ for 1 hour and then a whole night and still the charger doesn’t charge the MacBook at all . Please could someone help ? Thanks a lot

I suspect the problem is with the battery, but the System Management Controller (SMC) may need to be reset. Here's how to do it: Before resetting the SMC, try these steps:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, then release the button.
  3. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.

If the problem persists, follow these steps to reset the SMC:

  1. Shut down your Mac.
  2. On your built-in keyboard, press and hold all of the following keys. Your Mac can turn on. Control on the left side of your keyboard. Option (Alt) on the left side of your keyboard.
  3. Shift on the right side of your keyboard Hold down all three keys for 7 seconds, then also hold down the power button. If your Mac is on, it will turn off when you hold down the keys.
  4. Hold down all four keys for an additional 7 seconds, then release them.
  5. Wait a few seconds, then press the power button to turn on your Mac.

If that doesn't do the trick, you should take it to the Apple Store when you can.
