Tries, but why won't it power on?

Using the four LED lights by the RAM, 1st light comes on when plugged in (and will stay on until...), 2 & 3 flash when power button is pushed or held on. RAM has been ejected and reseated multiple times.

It did work once and now refuses. Early signs were computer failing during the night while asleep. Had to restart. PSU? Logic board? I'm stumped. I can't see any places where parts look bad. Replaced the watch battery, no change.

Well, that's what I thought, but I hate to put money into it only to find out it's the logic board. Guess I will roll the dice, though, your answers confirm my thoughts.

Thanks!

LED Startup Sequence

LED #1 = Power available.

If no LED is visible:

• Verify AC source

• Verify known-good AC cable is connected

• Verify cable connection between AC inlet and power supply

• Verify cable connection between power supply and logic board

• Verify power supply

LED #1 + LED #2 = Power available, and system is powered on.

If second LED is not visible when power button is pressed:

• Verify power button connection to logic board

• Verify power button functionality

• Verify cable connection between power supply and logic board

• Verify power supply

• Verify logic board

LED #1 + LED #2 + LED #3 = Power available, system is powered on, and video card found.

If third LED is not visible after power on:

• Verify that MXM video card is seated properly

• Verify logic board

You said LEDs 2 & 3 flash. Does 1 stay on or go out after that?

All three go out after that and in order to try again I must unplug and replug in the power cord, if I don't do that then no LEDs will light at all.

You need to replace your power supply if such is the case.

dj - Cellers answer is right out of the book. YOU said the lights flashed, not him. Your symptoms indicate that your power supply is failing as a load gets placed on it. I would replace it
