MacBook destroys the power supply of every external HD I plug into it
My 2017 MacBook Pro seems to have a lot of power supply issues. When I first bought it, the charger straight up didn’t work. A few years later it kept having this problem where it would shut down randomly or not charge if the battery was over 80% full.
I eventually solved this after many months after I read somewhere that these computers’ have some kind of inherent flaw where they overheat if you plug in the charger on the left side rather than the right. I now only plug it in on the right and that has worked.
However, a new problem has emerged. Every external harddrive I have plugged into it has eventually died after a couple months or even a couple weeks. I initially blamed this on the hard drives (many of these were laccie– which I have since realized are a scam) but I think there must be a deeper problem with my MacBook.
When I say ‘die’ I dont mean the hard drive itself dies, but the power supply. When I take them apart and plug them into a new hard drive bay or enclosure they work fine. So the power supply breaks when I plug them into my Mac.
Can anybody explain why this is happening? Is my Macbook inherently defective? Does it have some problem with power surges? Would appreciate any insight anyone might have into this issue.
Is dit een goede vraag?

Why do you think Lacie are bad drives?
They are no better nor worse than any other major drive company.
