My iPhone 5s doesn't recognize simcards anymore and I cant activate it

Hi

I found my old iPhone 5s and suddenly realised why I needed a new phone back then. It doesnt recognize any simcard anymore. It kept saying searching, and I messed up when I tried a factory reset, cause after I did this, the phone had to be activated again, but it won’t without a simcard. I guess my question is, is there any way to activate my iPhone 5s without a simcard inserted? It just says “iPhone couldnt be activated, updates are required”. I’m also open to resorting to jailbreak if thats the only possibility I have left.

What I have tried is put the phone in recovery mode and tried to activate it through iTunes, but this did nothing.
