It takes a long time to shut down, I completed the procedure to repair the disc with first aid.What options I have.Please reply

Your drive is a bit tight for free space, I would look at cleaning off some of the old stuff off. 8GB can limit you on running large projects. Your system will use your drive for virtual RAM so you need the space on the drive to support it! Here we are hitting the limits of your drive being full.

After running the diagnostics there are no errors, As suggested by you I will purge the old stuff to the maximum and report the progress .Many Thanks for the efforts taken

What is the size of your drive? How much free space on the drive do you have and how much RAM does your system have.
Did you try running the onboard diagnostics? Use Apple Diagnostics to test your Mac did you get any errors?
I would also make sure you are not leaving apps open when you shut down.

The size of the drive is 250.69 gb, Free space 59.50 gb, memory 2 slots 4 gb each

try a clean install. Or try booting with a linux usb disk. It will rule out any hardware issues.
