Replaced battery successfully two days ago. Now hearing an intermittent crackling static sound. The speakers are working fine.

In a very quiet room can you capture the sound and post it here so we can hear it Voeg afbeeldingen toe aan een bestaande vraag

@danj I reset the fan control to default and no longer hear the noise. The fans are both running normally. If it acts up again, I will record the sound as best as I can and post it. Thanks for getting back to me.

@danj The noise has resumed. I recorded it as a Voice Memo but cannot upload it in an acceptable format. Any suggestions?

Can you locate what area of the machine the sound is coming from? The only physically moving component in this model is the fan.

door

@chasgardner - Can you convert it to what iFixit supports? Its not very long is it? If it is you'll need to trim it down.

@chasgardner - Happy you got the vid posted! What I can tell you it's clearly a discharge event which the audio services is picking up.

Also the fact you are also noting your system is a bit warm is troubling as well.

Let's get a deeper look at your systems temps. Install this great app TG Pro hopefully we can get a clue where things are messed up on your logic board. Once you get something post a snapshot of the apps main window here so we can see things too. You'll need to adjust the window size and de-zoom the window to get all of the sensors visible in one snap. Otherwise you'll need to scroll the window to get the sensors at the bottom visible in a second snap.

Last question did you pull the logic board out? You may want to review the mounting screws in Step 29 to make sure you've put them in the correct placement [MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2015 Logic Board Replacement

@chasgardner - What are the fans doing? I don't see any issues with your systems thermals, was the case hot like before? If not wait until that point to take a snapshot.

The fans were both running when I opened it up to take the video I posted. I’m sure you can see them spinning. The case gets warm but not hot. The temp ratings don’t go much higher than in the screenshot I sent.

Discharge events are shorts or a bad capacitor. Think of like static electricity can play havoc to a microphone sliding on the staticky surface.

So we need to focus on the logic board and the connections to it.

Did you find out what was causing it? Having the same issue with my macbook currently

@caitlynfrench - logic board issue
