I have a new UE Megablast, fully charged and connected to app. After playing for a short period of time it makes a continuous piercing sound (like when a microphone is placed close to a speaker). This has happened at various locations. No updates required etc. Any information as unable to find information and hope Im not a total ditz!

Your speaker is defective! See if you can get it exchanged from where you bought it or contact UE to get it replaced under warranty.
