Screen color fades / fails in certain positions
Hello,
My screen appears to have a loose connection, if I open the MacBook an inch the screen is clear and normal, when fully opened it looses a lot of color and is hardly visible. When I connect to an external display the color is normal.
My question is what do i need to replace, the whole screen or just open it up to look for a loose connection?
Thanks, Mark
Is dit een goede vraag?
This will be the last Apple product I buy. I’ve had 3 Macbooks over 20 years the previous two lasting over 8 years each. This one, the most expensive of all lasted less than 3. Thanks for your assistance to all who replied above much appreciated.

@Mark Gainford - I feel your pain!
I'm still waiting for a REAL MacBook Pro to replace my 15" MacBook Pro retina systems.
Apple appears to have heard the screams of the pro's! The 16" models acknowledged the thermal issues which was not Apples fault alone it was Intel promising a cooler running chip (10 nm or smaller node based chips) which they failed to produce and Apple not having a plan B to handle Intels failures as they intro'ed a system which was too thin in its design for the needed cooling the hotter chips needed. Even with the improved cooling it was not enough!
Apple needed to drop Intel as they just couldn't deliver a cooler running chip and Apples SoC designs used in the iPhone where getting close to the needed performance to power the Mac's, and Wala! Apple produced the M1 chip which runs so much cooler and at a performance level in some cases better than Intel!
While I'm not ensued with the lack of upgradability of either RAM or storage in the current design. Apple has made it clear there are more models coming that span the different markets. So for now we will need to wait to see what Apple does.
Basically, don't blame Apple alone here. The 2016 onward Intel systems where a mistake for a lot of folks as they where really only MacBooks not the MacBook Pro's level of performance! If I could have I would have taped over the Pro part of the logo so people could understand it was not a Pro's system! The last true Pro system was the 2015 15" MacBook Pro (DG) If Apple had stayed with that systems frame things would have been much better!
