Replaced battery, computer won’t turn on

I’ve read other answers but no luck so far. Replaced the battery, everything went smoothly. Now charging light stays orange. No response from the computer. When I do SMC reset, light goes green briefly when I let go of keys but then goes back to orange. Anything else I can try or did I just kill a perfectly functioning laptop?

Lets back up why did you replace the battery in the first place was the system working and telling you you needed a new one?

door

Yes, it was indicating I should replace the battery soon, so I figured I would go ahead and do it.

take off the battery and all peripherals then hold the power button for ten secs. If that doesn’t work then I would recommend you maybe remove the battery and plug in the charger and see if that powered up the Computer you may have a faulty battery.

Do you mean disconnect the battery and have the computer plugged into a power outlet when I try to hold the power button down?

door

@Brian Gaberman Yes remove the battery and see if that helps.

Thanks, I’ll try that this evening

I got it working. I can’t believe it, but I had reconnected the I/O board cable backwards. I installed it correctly and everything seems to be working fine. Thanks so much for your help. @stevejob20084
