I now have the search marque bug. How can I get rid of it?

So I searched for solutions to get rid of the redirect bug, but the removal tools seem to be suspicious as well. And good ideas for the gurus on what is the most effective way to get rid of this BS and keep it out for good? I just downloaded Combo Cleaner, but I have some trepidation that it itself might be a bug…

You’ll need to get a good antivirus/malware app to protect your system and wipe it out. You could also create a new user account and then use it.

There was a GitHub tool I had used quite a few years ago (free).
