The MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) Trackpad Cable won’t affect the keyboard issue. The issue is either within the keyboard its self or the trackpad where the keyboard plugs into.

Review this guide MacBook Air 13" Mid 2013 Trackpad Replacement Jump down to Step 7 Either the keyboard cable is damaged here or the connection on the trackpad has an issue. Or, lastly the trackpad encoder logic is damaged which converts the keyboards signals (USB) to join up with the trackpad to the logic board.

I would like to confirm that the problem is with the logic trackpad and not the logic board. I have already replaced the internal keyboard, but the problem remains exactly the same. Many times (not always) type in uppercase and select all files by clicking like if the shift key was pressed. However with the karabiner app I can see that the key is not pressed. ¿changing the trackpad or could it also be a problem with the logic board?

@fpereira - The keyboard ribbon cable sends from the keyboard the key switches two signals, like a spread sheet a 'column' and a 'row' ID this gets us which key was pressed. So a single key failing would imply that keys switch element was bad. If you got a column or row of keys failing then we would know the pathway from the keyboard and through the ribbon cable to the trackpad was bad.

So replacing the keyboard removes both of these issues assuming the keyboard its self was not defective or damaged in the process of replacing.

That only leaves the encoder logic within the trackpad. This is where the analog key switch on/off conditions are converted to a digital signal to then be sent up to the logic board as a USB2 signal.

A good way to think this is you speak Russian and I speak English so we have a person translate what we are saying. But you used a word which means something different from what I would use so the translator incorrectly translates it. Clearly, it's not the you or me but the translation that got messed up.

It wouldn't be the USB hardware on the main logic board, but it could be the expected keyboard overlay within the OS that's not correct. But your symptoms don't support that.

I would remove the Karabiner remapping software and check the keyboard preferences control panel > Input sources are you using the correct one? Take a snapshot so we can see what you have Voeg afbeeldingen toe aan een bestaande vraag

Thanks, a very clear explanation.

I will try with a new trackpad.

Problems start at boot, the key combinations for the diagnostic and reset functions do not work with the internal keyboard connected and it boots in safe mode almost always.

Just install karabiner to be able to check that no keys were being pressed, the OS installation is clean.

When trackpad arrives I will confirm if it is solved
