Home button doesn't work after battery and front sensor replacement

I replaced my battery but I ripped the front sensor cable, so I replaced that also.

Upon reassembly, I am unable to get the touch sensor button to work. No click, no wake, no response at all, and obviously no fingerprint sensing.

I've had the phone apart and back together several times now, attempting to reseat the connectors, but nothing has resolved the issue.

All other phone functions are fine. No screen issues, front and back cameras work, earpiece works, speaker works, ambient light sensor works.

I didn't disturb the button assembly at all…where should I look next?

Gekozen oplossing

The most common scenario is you have torn the home button flex. The one that goes from the screen to the logic board. This usually happens at the 90 degree bend of the flex and can be very hard to see; sometimes you need magnification to spot it as the tear only needs to be microscopic.

I think you will need to replace your screen to get the home button working again.
