TV blinks, quick fix unplug for 2 hours, but problem comes back

I got an RCA tv used a little over a year ago and for 10 months it worked great. Then one day it started to blink on and off. This will only happen if it is the second time I turned on the Tv in a day and it will commence a few seconds after turning it on. The blinking is not a strobe light effect, instead, the screen gets black for around a second before returning to colour and then turning black again. I found that unplugging it for around 2 hours and then plugging it back in caused it to work perfectly and will not happen again until I turn the TV off and on again within around an hour. Any ideas what this could be? Its number is RLC3255A-B and it is a 32’’ RCA LCD tv.

Thank you

Sasha Sychterz  that could be the power board losing power to the backlight LED’s. Next time that happens you want to shine flashlight beam at an angle against the screen. see if you can make out shapes etc. Of course that will only work if your TV maintains to play sound if you lose booth it’s most likely a mainboard issue but can really be more board issues, like the T-con board or the LCD driver board. Let us know what you find out the next time this happens.

Hello oldturkey, thank you for the quick response, I wanted to wait to comment until it happened again and it just did. I shined a light at the backboard and could not make out any shapes but I'm a novice and don't really know what I am doing. The TV does not continue to make sounds and will instead make a popping sound when it flicks off. Sound and video returns at the same time before disappearing again.

@Sasha Sychterz this "will instead make a popping sound" sound like its an issue with the boards (main board would be my prime suspect). We would have to see those. You will also have to measure the voltages from your power board to the main board etc.
