Why is my truck shutting off?

I was driving my 1999 f150 4x4 to work and out of nowhere it just died like you flip a light switch all lights everything total power loss. Checked cables and got back in and fired up no problem no codes popped up. Drove about another mile it done it again. Then on the way home after work it done it again also will make all gages go crazy like its cutting out but if I let out the gas it will flicker the gouges a bit and I can pedal the gas a bit and will clear up. Not sure whats going on.
