Two keys (P and the CAPS LOCK) aren't working. What could be wrong?

I have a MacBook Air 11” Early 2014 that has ONLY two keys that won’t work — the P and the CAPS LOCK key. Every other key presses just fine. I’ve removed the P and CapsLock chiclets, cleaned them and popped them back on, but that didn’t help. Could a loose keyboard cable only cause 2 keys not to work? Do I need to replace the entire keyboard or just a ribbon or both? Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks!

Sadly the two keys use very different lines so its not a cable issue. You’ll need a new keyboard to fix this at this point MacBook Air 11" (Mid 2011-Early 2015) Keyboard its a bit of work to replace. Or, you could just replace the uppercase BeetsTech - Top Case with Keyboard Only one left! Which is a lot easier!

Thanks, Dan! Appreciate the feedback. That's what I was afraid of...I think I'll go for the new keyboard with more difficult repair...sounds more challenging with more ways to mess up my MacBook air! :)

@Chad Chervitz - The recycled uppercase part is only $30 USD. It's a lot easier and with Apples new Silicon based systems on the way you might want to make the jump to a newer system next year.

I even was toying with the idea of getting this years 16" MBP system as I really need a new system for my work as my current 2015 15" MBP system is just not powerful enough for the work I'm doing with my ultra large image editing. I'm holding off for now seeing what Apple gives us this year and what the performance of the real APU's are looking like.
