Can't Access the Logic Board

I reviewed the excellent fixit instruction on Logic Board Replacement (6s Plus) and decided to give it a try but could not get past step 12. When I tried to lift the screen, the home button and the metal backing for the screen remained stuck in the phone. The home button cable (which is attached to the screen) prevents me from lifting the screen to no more than 1/4 inch. How can I get the home button and the metal screen backing free from the phone? FYI, I did remove the two 3.4mm pentalobe screws.

Firstly the home button and backing plate should remain attached to the screen. Secondly if you can only lift the screen ¼ inch because of the home button flex it means it is not an iPhone 6s plus. Are you sure you have the 6s plus and not an earlier model?

Thanks Chris. The first part of you answer is where my problem began. I was able to separate the home button and the backing plate from the screen in trying to lift up the screen. Somehow got the spudger in the wrong place. After viewing the breakdown fixit and examining the way the screen parts are assembled, I was able to see what happened. To fix it, I had to get the spudger under the home button (that was still attached to the phone) and pry it up. Up came the home button and the screen backing plate. I had to reattach (glue) the home button assembly back to the screen. Thanks again.
