Sadly, there are differences within the display that make a swap out not possible.

Apple switched to a different signaling and wiring standard from the original eDP to iDP.

The best way to think of this is two people who speak Spanish one from Spain and the other from Mexico, while they are similar there is enough differences to make talking difficult. Here is even harder.

Partly You are wrong - I've put 2014 into 2015 and it is all fine!

BUT - partly You might be right as my 2014 which now has partly damaged screen - reports problem with Camera (in Diagnostics) and MacBook is "slow" CPU thottling - BUT LCD itself works great.

@Bart - Sorry I was thinking late 2015 model panel. The LCD panel between the early 2015 is the same as the 2014. Even still the camera is different!

If you swapped the LCD panel alone between them you could do that.

13.3” LCD from MacBook Pro Mid 2014 works fine with my Early 2015 model. The only problem is that it does not recognized the LCD during the first 5 sec of startup, or when you press Option key at startup to select different operating system. The solution is to close the screen lid and open again, the OS selection screen will appear. Instead of closing/opening the lid, I mimic it by passing a magnet to middle left side of the MacBook.

People also reported that sometimes they can not change screen brightness until closing/opening the lid, but it never happens to me.

wow - so true with that OS selection and close open lid!

But what about in other side - I mean - 2015 LCD in 2014 - will it trigger CPU throttling?

I am asking as it is happening to my 2014 - I've disconnected LCD same - can it be non Apple problem?

Thank You
