charging please wait displayed after restore

I have a 3 year old Ipod classic 80 gig that I replaced the battery on because the old one would not charge. Ipod displayed that it was charging when hooked to a power source but the meter would not go up until it fully drained down. I replaced the battery on it and it still would not charge up. I therefor fully drained battery down and then tried to recharge to no avail. Tried ipod restore in Itunes and now it is locked up with screen saying "charging please wait" with the yellow triangle explanation point. Wont reset by holding menu/center buttons or go into diagnostic mode. Wondering if logic board issue or hard drive issue?

rsherry, make sure that the battery is properly inserted into the connector. Be careful with the battery connector, they do have a tendency of breaking of the logic board. If it is properly inserted and secured, try to charge the iPod on an AC or Firewire Charger and see if that makes a difference. Sometimes, when the battery is discharged to low, the USB port of a computer will not supply enough amperage. Make sure that your dock connector has no bent or corroded pins and that your cable is in good working order. If none of that works, it is possible that you have a problem with the charging circuit on the logic board. In that case, I believe the only fix would be to replace that. Hope this helps to get you started. Good Luck

Thanks for the feedback. I took the case apart again and found exactly what you said about the battery ribbon that slots into the logic board. The white housing connector on the logic bourd broke/ is loose and slid off with the ribbon cable. put the connector and ribbon cable back on, put a miniscule dab of super glue on coneector so it stayed on the logic board and then recharged with case apart to make sure it worked. Battery charges and ipod is working fine. If problem comes back in the future ill have to get a new logic board.
