How do you connect 2 touches to separate iTunes Libraries?

My wife and myself have separate Apple iPod touches 2nd gen. We each listen to different music and videos.

I set up two separate iTunes libraries on my laptop PC (Compaq R4000) to sync the iPods to iTunes.

My touch syncs correctly....apps, music and videos.

My wife's touch syncs the apps ok but it appears that there is no sync with video and music. iTunes does a backup and then appears to sync but no new music is transferred to the iPod from her iTunes library.

Any suggestions would be appreciated....divorce is NO option!

i feel certain that you have looked at this, but double check your sync options to make sure they are set properly. since you have individual ipod, the unit should have created their own accounts with their own individual settings and files...notes, music, video, etc.

If you have another laptop you could use that...

Some steps I would take in troubleshooting this:

Check that the files exist and itunes knows exactly where they are.

Check if the itunes library is authorized to play those songs.

Let us know how it goes.

I'm assuming that you are using two different user login accounts for the computer, so that...

- you are using different user accounts on the computer, and that you each store your music, videos, etc in your personal documents folder. - setting up the two 'touches' is simple as it's the same for each user account, as far as the computer is concerned your wife's touch doesn't exist when logged into your user account, and vice-versa.

Also assuming that there is music and videos in your wifes playlist, and you have navigated to the sync options for her device in iTunes, make sure that you have selected to sync all music, or which playlists, etc.

Next I would try "restoring" her device to factory settings, and setting it up fresh.

The best solution would be for you to have one account with one library, and your wife to have another account with another library.

Aldg: Quick question, have you tested to be sure that all the media (songs & videos) will play in iTunes? yashrg brought up a good point that perhaps the songs are in the library, but the library points to a location where the files are no longer located.

If the media will play in iTunes, you have one of two problems (same as my previous answer):

1) Device trouble, restore it to factory defaults and try again

2) Incorrect settings, try unpairing the device and setting it up as though it were 'new

Hi leremus3:

Thank you for your posting.

Yes, i've tried different options (sync ALL music or sync manually, etc) and none of it works on my wife's iPod and with her own iTunes Library.

Other suggestions would be appreciated.
