Is it worth trying to fix screen?

Hi

I have a 2012 Macbook Air that has pretty bad damage to the screen with the logo also being damaged at the back. I was wondering whether it would be possible to determine whether the glass layers at the back of the screen are damaged? Would it be possible to determine this by looking at the display?

I know that there are two ways to repair which involve either replacing the entire screen assembly or ordering another polariser and replacing that. Although replacing the screen assembly would probably be the easiest thing to do age and cost($300) does not seem worth it . However replacing the digitiser seems to be around $120.

I have put links to pictures of the device below.

Its not very easy to replace the just the digitizer and it also takes a lot of time. I would replace the whole screen assembly. That way you can be sure it will work. By replacing only the digitizer you can not be sure if there is no other damages on the inside.

Considering the time it would take to find out if there is any other damages and the prize of the digitizer, i personaly would just go with replacing the whole screen assembly.

There is no digitizer in MacBook Air systems. You are thinking iPads or other tablets.

You are right @danj. I was too focused on what he wrote and didnt think it through. But still i think replacing the screen assembly is the best wasy to go.

Replacing the display is not overly hard as you can see here MacBook Air 13" Mid 2012 Display Assembly Replacement

Here’s the cheapest one I can find 13” MacBook Air - Complete Display Assembly (Grade-C) Aprox $128 USD. Or if you think your system needs something better 13” MacBook Air - Complete Display Assembly (Grade-A) $375 USD

As your logo and lid is also damaged you really need the full display assembly. Replacing the LCD panel its self is very tricky (not the polarizer or defuser sheets) as your LCD panel its self is damaged.
