phone is not ringing I tried calling it and it won’t ring

Can you call out from the phone OK?

If you can call out from the phone:

What happens when you call your own number from the phone, do you get a busy signal or a ringtone signal?

If you get a busy signal then there is a problem with the cordless phone’s base station or the cordless phone handset.

Have you got a corded phone that you can plug into the phone line instead of the cordless phone’s base station and check if it will ring when you call the number from another phone? If the corded phone rings there is a problem with the cordless phone’s base station or handset.

If you get the ringtone signal, contact your landline phone service provider as there is a problem with the phone line as you should get the busy signal when you call yourself unless you have immediate redirection your your incoming calls.

If you can’t call out from the phone:

Disconnect the phone’s base station from the telephone line socket and if possible connect a corded phone instead.

Try to call out from the corded phone.

If you can call out using the corded phone, call your number from another phone and check if the corded phone rings and that you can answer the call. If you can call out and also answer calls using the corded phone then there is a problem with the cordless phone’s base station or handset.

If you still can’t call out when using the corded phone, contact your landline phone service provider as there is a problem with the phone line.

If you have no other phone that you can connect to the telephone line, disconnect the base station from the telephone socket and then call your landline number from another phone. When you hear the ringtone in the other phone, use a screwdriver to short out the two telephone wires in the socket and listen if the ringtone stops in the calling phone.

If it doesn’t stop then there is a problem with the phone line. Contact your landline phone service provider as there is a problem with the phone line.

If it stops then there is a problem with the cordless phone’s base station or handset.
