Device tries to boot, but wont

I recently bought a iPhone XS with a broken screen and wanted to replace it. The included battery was unfortunately broken. I knew that it wouldnt boot without a battery, but i still wanted to see what the current draw without one was. Without a battery, i plugged in a charger and all it does is it jumps to ~200mA and goes to 0 again. So i bought a new battery from iFixit…and it still does the very same thing? I checked the battery with a multimeter, and it definitly has a charge. I read that the device can still boot without a screen, so i disconnected the screen and tried again. Still the same. Ive also read that the newer iPhones actually refuse to boot without a proper screen installed. Is that true? Should i buy a cheap 40$ LCD Panel from China, or even invest in an OEM one, to test the Device? Or is the logic board defective?

It sounds like it has a board issue, nothing related to the screen or battery. You can order a cheap LCD to test it, but I wouldn’t recommend using it long term. That phone was designed to be used with the more energy efficient OLED display. LCD will not only impact battery life, but that connector really isn’t meant to handle the current an LCD display can draw and harm said connector. At least get a hard OLED panel if you wanna save a buck without harming the device. If you want the best quality, go ahead and invest in an OEM one or even just a soft OLED panel. Check out Mobile Sentrix for good parts. Just beware when you replace the screen and battery it will notify you that apple can’t verify they’re genuine parts.

Yeah im aware of the "not genuine parts" warnings :/ I´m curious if someone knows about this issue and if its really worth investing in this device. Thanks for your comment though

@ericsson420 if you don't mind me asking, how bad was the condition when you bought it? And where did you buy it from?

@hootonberg Bought it on a german craigslist-eqivalent, the back and frame are flawless, but the screen is absolutly obliterated. Screen wasnt glued on and its missing nearly all screws. Its obvious that somebody was already in there. Got scamed, i know :/

Edit: picture of the screen https://photos.app.goo.gl/puLU2qgfaPB8BQ...

@ericsson420 yeah that looks to be in rough shape. Odds are it took a really hard impact or something.

My 2 cents, i would not buy a new screen to test if it will boot the phone , becauze when you connect the logic bord (logic bord-dockconnector conected to bord and battery connected to bord) to itunes on pc it will recognise your iphone if the logic bord isnt defect.
