Black screen and black Touch Bar

Hey there,

I’m out of ideas maybe you guys have some input for me.

I’ve got a 2017 15” MBP with Touch Bar and all of the sudden it won’t boot - no warranty left.

The thing is: the fans start spinning, the display and the touch bar stay black. Trackpad is reacting (well at least it’s on) but the keyboard isn’t (no green light pressing the caps lock key). Oh and no backlight is on (I can’t see anything if I use a light to check the screen).

I don’t have an external keyboard at hand (no adapter atm) but I’ll try the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM Reset on Monday with one I ordered.

I opened it up but there is no liquid damage - while I was at it I replaced the heat sink thermal paste and unplugged everything to see if that fixed the problem - no luck though.

The odd thing is that the Mac is booting up even when it’s closed and the processor gets extraordinarily hot.

If I force it to shut down by holding the power button it won’t reboot - only if I disconnect the battery and reconnect it.

I’d be happy if anyone could help me out here :)
