Help identifying connector between logic board and touchpad (maybe)

Alright gang.

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro that has one of the connectors burned. Please see photos. Disregard “battery connector” label. We know it’s not that.

Block Image

It is located at about 5 o'clock of the left fan with the Mac battery closest while viewing. The ribbon cable that attaches to the burnt connector is secured by a metal plate with two screws. The ribbon cable goes under the logic board and into the keyboard. I suspect connected to the touchpad maybe.

It is the same style connector as the rectangular touch pad connector on many of the newer MacBook Pros. It has 40 pins to be soldered to the board.

Here's what info I believe to be correct: Hirose df40. I cannot find one that has 40 pins, though.

Thanks for whatever help you give.

Since this is covered under warranty, why would you attempt repair?

Any machine that I have problems with during the first year, I always that out the extended two years of AppleCare.

Was dit antwoord nuttig?

Because Apple hasn’t add liquid damage to its limited warranty coverage. This Mac took a drink.

You are going to need to the part on a donor board. The only person I know of that might have it would be Louis Rossman

Thanks. I submitted this post from my request to rossmangroup Kevin responded, and we were making progress until he asked me for the connectors”J number.”

I have been very prompt in my responses to rossmangroup, who have now gone silent.

I have since learned that’s an identifier from the schematic, which I don’t have. I find them online for $$, but even if I bought one I wouldn’t know what I’m looking for.

Anyone out there help me identify this connector so I can at least refer it by name in my attempts to locate a replacement? I’ll submit a photo of the male connector.

Thank you.

Rossman is in NYC, it's Friday and they may have closed down for the weekend.
