Putting late 2014 iMac internals into custom case

So i had an idea to put my late 2014 27” iMacs internals such as the motherboard, power supply and all the Necessary components to make my computer function normally into a custom case i will make myself. My iMac has a few cracks in screen and that really bugs me but a new screen costs $500-$600 which is a waste of money and out of my price range. So i thought of putting my iMacs internals into a custom made box and use an external display. Would this work or will there be issues? Thanks for any help!

Sorry, just not possible!

The iMac’s design does not lend its self to be converted into a more traditional desktop. I have yet to see one work from all of the people who had the same idea here.

The only person I know of who did do something like this just mimicked the iMac design making a clear casted case that looks exactly like an iMac. He uses it as a sales gimmick. He doesn’t power for very long it as the plastic would over heat and could crack. He spent over $6,000 USD to get someone to 3D print the molds to cast the plastic.

Now you can do the same but I think you’ll find replacing the display making a proper working system would be cheaper!
