Do I need a new charging port?

Hello

My s9+ won’t fast charge with the included fast charge adapter and I also cannot get it to be recognized by the computer. I have tried multiple cables, and used cables that work on a different phone for data transfer.

Weirdly it will fast charge on my laptop 60w charger.

I’ve cleaned the port out, may have used rubbing alcohol at one point, but not recently. I haven’t tried cleaning it in ages and have just dealt with it but am considering selling it so trying to fix it up first.

Any help is appreciated

Could possibly be related to the charge port. See if you can get it to fast charge using a wireless charging pad if possible. I do believe you need USB Debugging mode enabled as well in order for a computer to detect it.

If you do find it’s a faulty charge port, make sure you purchase the variant for your model. There are I believe two variants for the s9+ and they’re not interchangeable. Look for the SM number either on the back or look to Model Number in the settings under the about phone tab. It’s usually SM followed by three numbers and one letter. For example my Note 8 is an SM-950U.

Thanks for this. I've got USB debugging enabled, no effect. PC should detect it without that though for file transfer, but doesn't work in any mode.
