What interface does the hard drive use?

A friend of mine who doesnt know much about tech needs to take the SSD of a mac book pro that is broken and get his files (photos, videos, etc). I never owned or worked with Apple products and i have no idea what interface they using. I did some research and i was confused even more. All I know is that the SSD should not be compatible with standard interfaces. Is there an adapter to change it to a standard one?

Apple uses a custom design while similar to the more popular M.2 blade SSD's they are not the same!

Theodoros Konstadinidis - First you’ll need a special case to house the Apple SSD and then you need to connect the case with the SSD onto another Mac system as the files on it can’t be read under Windows or Linux (APFS) the older HFS+ can be read with added OS support under Windows but I’m sure you are going to need to salvage the Photo app files which will require macOS

Here’s the case you’ll need: OWC Envoy Pro Portable, Bus-Powered USB 3.0 Storage Enclosurefor select Apple Flash SSDs from most 2013 to 2015 Mac Models

With a quick google search i found some solutions that seem to be able to read APFS. Is that what apple uses on their new computers?

From macOS High Sierra onward Apple uses this newer file system APFS. Older macOS use HFS+.

But you still have an issue! Just because you can access the files from the drive you may not have an app within the other OS which can access them.

As an example the app Photo is an Apple only app so to see the photos within its data store you need a Mac system running the app.

Sadly this is the reverse on what Theodoros needs.

He needs a way to hold the custom Apple SSD so he can retrieve the files from it.

Yeah i need to connect the Mac SSD on a regular computer.
