Stripped screws on heatsink

I have a MacBook A1342 that unfortunately has 3 stripped screws on the CPU heatsink.

Is there any way it can be removed, or is the heatsink now stuck on the board forever?

Here’s what the screws look like:

Hi Can you use VISE-GRIP Long Nose Locking pliers to clamp on the outside to turn the screw head?

Could you drill out the screw completely and replace it with new screws and nuts?

Unfortunately, I don’t have those tools at my disposal. I tried a couple of random pliers I found. None of them did anything though. I’m guessing regular pliers, or at least the ones I had, are just not fit for the job.

I also tried the “rubber band trick” that I found online. It did nothing. That probably only works on partially damaged screws. Mine look badly damaged.

I do have a drill of some sort, but it looks too big and I’m worried I may drill off more than the screw.

Try cutting a deep enough straight groove on each screw, you can use a Dremel or something sharp and harder than the screw to create the groove. Then use an appropriate sized, flat headed screw driver to unscrew them. Alternatively, you can make a small hole in the screws and with a Screw Extractor Set which screws the opposite way and you can find at any hardware store, you’ll get those suckers out in no time. Good luck!
