How can I replace optical drive, with a new one.

Goodday,

I have a ps4 pro with a optical drive that does not work. What ways can i fixit? (Pun not intended)

Ifixit says that you can replace the old one with a new one, but after some research i found out that the optical drive is married to the mobo.

What is wrong with the drive? As example, if the laser is broken, you could also replace the laser only. This will be less expensive and you don’t need to transfer the PCB of the drive to the new drive.

So yes, you can replace the drive and indeed the PCB of the drive is linked with the motherboard. You need to transfer your PCB (in the original drive that came out) to the new drive. It’s important that you transfer it, otherwise you wont be able to play games (disc games) and only able to play movies.
