The retina and non retina MacBook use completely different batteries.
One of them is adhered to the bottom case while the other is screwed in.
In short, not compatible due to technical differences physically and electronically.

I'm referring to the late 2012 which is a retina with a similar form factor to the 2013, look it up. Sorry for the misunderstanding thanks
Sorry about that, I was looking at the title of the thread.
OK So the 2012 Retinas (A1425s) use a different style battery as seen here compared to the A1502s 2013-2015:
