Will a 1466 2017 MacBook air screen work on a 1466 2013 MacBook air?

I have a MacBook Air A1466 which should be a 2017 model, but the screen messed up. I also have a second MacBook Air A1466 which is a 2013 model.

I need to know if I can swap the screen from the 2013 to the 2017 and if all the cables are the same length.

Also, will the screen resolution and cameras be the same?

You’re in luck! Apple used the same display assembly ‘13 thru to ‘17

So swapping it over should be a slam-dunk.

I would make the effort to check the system. Plug in an external to see if it’s not anything else.

Hey there,

Hope you still see this message. I changed the screen of my A1466 due to black screen, before I did so I plugged in an external monitor and got an image, but now after I changed it I still have a black screen.

Checked every connection, can’t find a fault on my side. Do you maybe know the answer

Sounds like you have a very different problem here. I would use a flashlight shining it in through the Apple logo in the lid do you see the faint image of your desktop and its icons? If you do then your backlight circuit needs to be diagnosed and you likely needlessly bought a new display as this logic is part of the main logic board. Time to find someone with the deeper micro-soldering skills and access to the needed parts.

It could also simply be the connector on the main board. More often than not when you spill liquids on a Mac it fries the connector/cable. So when ever you hear hooves, think horses - not zebras. I have often caught myself overthinking a problem and trying to find fault with a circuit when it was simply a connection issue.

@Jarkko Mattinen - Very true! Using the flashlight to identify what part of the display needs deeper diagnostics is the key.
