Replaced original HDD to Samsung SSD but cannot load el capitan

This old Mac book pro (late 2011) had been working fine with a replacement SSD in the internal drive, a friend gave it to me as they got a new one and no longer needed it and wiped the SSD drive. The laptop now opens straight on to the OS X utilities window, and when I try to reinstall El Capitan I put my details in and it says product temporarily unavailable. What can I do to reinstall OS X El Capitan so it can work again?

  1. Try to first just get a system on it. Do an internet install of the original 10.6.6 system then upgrade the system.
  2. Install another system using another Mac and Target Mode.
  3. Have your friend help you set up a USB Thumb drive with the 10.11 installation image on it. If it gives you problems, turn the date on your computer back to about a month after the date on your installer.
  4. Make sure the have replaced the Hard Drive I/R cable with the 2012 model cable (you need this better cable when using an SSD.

When you turn the Macbook on. hold Command+R till the loading bar appears and it will boot up in recovery. *Wipe the SSD, go back and press on “Reinstall MacOS El Capitan”. Does this work for you ?

*When you wipe the SSD, all the data on the SSD will be lost.
