If i open the laptop, it begins to start up, however 10 seconds the laptop losses power and the power indicator led fades out. If I open the lid and place a magnet near the sensor the laptop runs. Strange note here… you cannot access the bios with the magnet on the lid switch. Does this sound like there is an issue with the lid switch itsself or if there is the issue with something else?

Lid switch. Go to windows 7 settings and power -> disable lid button.

This would be a good suggestion, However the laptop dies on startup, doesn't even post unless the magnet is on the sensor.
