Losing patience with this keyboard cable

I've been trying to insert the keyboard cable for over three hours now with no luck. Is it just me or is this a horrible design? I've tried to use the tape method, a flat screwdriver method (without the bit), and now I feel like all my efforts are futile because the cable appears to be all bent and mangled making it impossible to even get it through. The tip curls up and since it isn't flat, it only makes it harder to push it through. The blue part underneath the cable is a little separated from the gold lines creating this bubble where I can't create tension to slide it underneath the insert. I have pictures of anyone cares. Do I have to buy a new keyboard cable, wait several days without a functioning computer, only for it to arrive and go through this again?!

Edit: welp, looks like I royally messed it up. Before, only the top row keys wouldn't work. Now none of the keys work, although it still powered on when connected to a power source, but didn't when not connected to a power source even though it's on 100%.. Not only that, but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy this specific keyboard cable.

There’s no keyboard cable as such, you’ll have to buy and replace the full keyboard if that’s damaged.

Buy and replace the full keyboard or logic board (because it has the keyboard cable attached to it)? There nothing wrong with the actual keys, it's just the cable underneath. I'm just curious about the semantics because I've never done this before.

@starsmash Hope the image helps you to better understand. It is one part, no "cable attached" to the keyboard to replace, all or nothing.

Thank you. I looked up keyboard replacement videos, but the thing is, a new keyboard does not come with a new keyboard cable. Neither does a new logic board which leads me to believe I'd have to buy a new computer?

@starsmash No way. See the picture I enclosed ? You've got 2 extensions coming out from the keyboard, one is the power button and the other is the connector that fits in the zif socket of the logic board. Let's say you need a couple of hours work and 30$ for the KB and you're ready to go. Or, if you don't want to take the trouble of the 80+ screws to work on, you can buy the full topcase, no need for a new Mac.

The thing is, my keyboard cable is located closer to the right of my spacebar. In the picture you provided, there is no cable provided there. Yours has a cable on the left. Maybe you posted a picture of a different model? If so, my apologies.

I don’t see anyone else complaining, so it is just you then.
