Sharp Model: LC-70LE600U no video, but sound works

The top part of the screen looked normal, the bottom half of the screen looked like it was faded. After an hour or so the whole picture went out. Not I have no video but the sound works.

Any ideas what could be going on here?

Shine a flash light (torch) on the screen to see if you can observe a valid picture. If you can then more than likely you have a backlight problem.

@propman This is a friends tv. Right after I posted this question, I just thought of that and sent him a message to try that. Once I find out if he can see an image or not then I will update.

@b23norris Strange my inbox here says I have a new message from you but it's hide or hair to be seen here. I think, iirc, I sent you a reddit link to which you replied but that is not visible either. Weird! Will leave it for now and see if it shows up a little later on....might be some temporary glitch somewhere along the line. Hope you are having a good day! :-)

@b23norris Might also want to suggest to him to check https://old.reddit.com/r/TVRepair/ as there could possibly be pertinent info there. :-)

@propman looks like it got lost when your comment was converted to an answer. Restored and added it to your answer.

@b23norris this “the bottom half of the screen looked like it was faded. After an hour or so the whole picture went out” could be a backlight issue but the fading most commonly originates from the T-con board. If the flashlight test will show the menu etc. You will have to check the power board first. If it does not, check the T-con board. Once you are ready to check deeper, remove the back on your TV and look at the boards for obvious damage. Post some good pictures with your question so that we can see what you see. It may take a few days for me to get the tv to be able to check on this, but I will update once I get the tv and am able to test some of it.
