Connector/logic board fried after lcd screen replacement

With lack of knowledge i replaced a third party lcd screen with my old broken one without moving the battery first. When connecting the wide connector closest to the top, it smelled burnt. It does not display anything. Which parts are possibly damaged, and what needs to be replaced? Is it the logic board or the screen?

Backlight filter at the very least has blown which is a component soldered on the board right near the screen connector.

A reputable phone repair store that does board repairs can replace this component. You may be able to find someone locally that offers this service. These repairs generally start from $80.

Thanks for answering. I will check out the backlight part. Does this prevent all signals to the lcd screen? Is it possible for me to attempt a repair by my self? I do have the tools neccessary, although limited knowledge

The backlight filter is connected to the screen's backlight power.

That filter ends up acting as the fuse as that always ends up being blown when the backlight pin and ground are shorted together which happens a lot when connecting the screen with the battery connected.

You should still see an image on the screen, but very dim with a flashlight shining on the screen.
