MacBook Shuts down randomly and won’t start back

Hey,

My MacBook Air was working fine for sometime, but, suddenly it shuts down. I tried to start it again, it started however but again it shut down.

I performed SMC reset a couple of time but still it has the same problem.

And now it is not even starting backup, and some times it does, it again shuts down randomly.

SMC couldn’t resolve this issue? Also I’m not sure whether the SMC is performed successfully or not?

In addition, this happens even when the power plug is plugged in and the power plug is only showing the LED light if the laptop is turned on otherwise it just doesn’t even show the LED light.

What is the color and the brightness of the MagSafe LED?

And also I’m not able to know whether it is getting charged or not as the led light doesn’t turn on, even after plugging it in AC supply and I don’t think it is adapter’s issue because it was getting charged till yesterday, even after the random shut down but now it’s showing no sign of charging.

How did you solve the problem?

Possibly your MacBook is out of power. Let it charge for 1 hr. Don’t disturb your machine.

Is there any heat issue?

Check the CPU temperature with HW MONITOR.

HW MONITOR is a Windows PC app which won't work here under macOS.

@me_ravi - Thats better! HWSensors

But even still, that's assuming you can install it and in truth this is not the ideal way to deal with this type of problem.

Lets leverage what the system offers for diagnostics first the MagSafe LED is the first. The second would be to install an app that can read the Battery and Charger info. I like this one CoconutBattery

No there is no heat issue. It’s normal. Moreover how can I install, my mac is not even starting.

LED doesn’t matter

It just indicates

If it conducts copper, full- green, not charging empty

Must be connection issue.

@yjain_4 - So you are not getting any light from the MagSafe charger. Let’s work on that as you need to get something.

Review this Apple T/N Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters Make sure the cable is not damaged in any way and the pins of the connector are good.

On the system make sure the contacts are clean and not burnt. If they are burnt you’ll need to replace the MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board and here’s the guide you’ll need to follow MacBook Air 13" Early 2015 I/O Board Replacement

Will this I/O board charge me if my mac is in warranty? It won’t, right?

If you have AppleCare+ I would not do anything! Instead take the system into an Apple Store or authorized service center. Let them fix the system under warranty! I like Free over having to buy something!

But!! If you've used a cheap knock-off charger or got your system wet then they could deny your coverage.
