Can I put a Retina display on my older MacBook Pro?

Hi @nuka_kola and @danj thank you for letting us know it's possible! I also have a matt screen 2011 model 15" MBP that died due to gpu failure.

Do you think I could swap in a mid-2012 retina logic board? Or you'd rather go with a non-retina ones? It's the best deal I could find right now but I'm not sure if these two are different in terms of logic board. Will it cause problems when swapping? Thank you!

Gekozen oplossing

A retina system uses a different video signaling method than the older non-retina systems

● Unibody 2012 and older - LVDS

● Newer Retina systems - iDP (also known as eDP)

You need to stick with the display the logic board supports.
