System not responding, Battery is good

I’m struggling with the same stuff. Trying to get alive the MBP (MacBookPro5,1) of my daughter.

Next to all recommendations, I tried the hint from here <http://www.insidemylaptop.com/turn-on-ma...>, shorting the power-on pads. No way.

UPDATE:

The model is MacBook Pro "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 15" (Unibody) 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo (P8600)

What is the color of the MagSafe LED? Amber or Green?

What does the battery checker show?

Did you try a fresh battery?

door

1. Amber

2. 1st dot flashing green

3. this is a more or less new 3rd-party replacement, my daughter bought last year. Before I was trying the old from Apple again. MagSafe was green, checker with all dots green.

It would hardly reach my daughters need, to run the MBP without battery. So my main question is, how to get it start again.

I just found an eBay-offer. A MBP, immediately shutting down after taking off the MagSafe - but running properly with. Will this get the same probs after a while, or should I buy to build one running machine?

PS: Sorry for my late reply - I thought I would get noticed on comments.

I'm a bit confused in your listing...

The current battery is Amber MagSafe and one battery checker LED lit. If that's so, you likely need another battery.

If the second battery is showing a Green MagSafe and all of the battery checker LED's are lit that is a workable battery!

I can't answer your eBay offer. Buying another exact system won't change the battery issue you have here.

Sorry for confusing you, Dan.

The battery I mentioned first is loading (that's Amber, no?) and meanwhile has 3 green spots with the checker.

Maybe the old Apple battery is working - but only for some seconds. That's why my daughter bought a new one.

Nevertheless. The Book does not start.

Now the "new" battery is loaded completely. MagSafe with green light. Checker all dots green. But still no way to start the machine.

You need a new logic board from the sounds of it 2.4GHz replacement Logic Board - Apple P/N 661-4834 and here's the guide to put it in MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2008 and Early 2009 Logic Board Replacement

I think your eBay system is too much a gamble.

Ok, thanks a lot, Dan.

I like to work on this stuff at times - specially with the help of iFixit. (Years ago, I put alive my MBP 15” early 2008 for some more years with a little bakery of my Logic Board in the kitchen). But not this time. I was able to get 13-inch MBP Early 2011 for 200.
