stuck Y screw for battery hold er

I bought a replacement battery for my 2012 15” mbp, took off the back, then set about taking out the battery with the Y screwdriver. But, I couldn’t get either of the screws to turn. I stripped one of them (gave myself a dope slap), but I cannot figure out how to get either of the screws out. HELP, please!

When it happens to me I usually cut a slot in the screw head with a dremel like cutting disk. Otherwise you may break some of the plastic under the screws, remove the battery and try unscrewing with a nipper.

Commentaar:

I don’t know if any nipper type tool will be able to break the screws loose. It almost feels like some idiot crazy glued them in. Most screws I find in computers are firmly seated, but not frozen in place, so I’m at a loss. The battery on this mid-2012 mbp is supposed to be changeable. I’m just wondering if somebody in the assembly process didn’t read the memo.

As @arbaman arbaman stated break the plastic around the screws. Use a pair of dikes to snip the little plastic extension loops. Then you can remove the battery and get a pair of pliers on the screws. These tabs are very easy to break and I usually see they are already broken in about a third of these machines.
