Is this more than a cable fix?
A friend is asking. The screen is AWFUL diagonal lines and a black thing in the middle. Picture attached. I’m wondering if this is a cable problem and might actually be fixable.
? Don’t know how to search for the info I might need. It’s also missing the actual glass Apple logo on the case - looks like it was broken. Could that be part of the issue? Thanks for help.

A bit more information. I plugged it into a external monitor with lightening port and got a colorful but hazy screen of a random shapes. (I'd post but don't see how.)

The internal display image is telling me something very heavy sat or was dropped on the lid crushing the Apple logo into the LCD screen cracking it. So that will need to be replaced.
The second image of the external display is telling me the logic board also got damaged too! So the bottom cover must have also punched into the logic board as well.

Something dropped on it makes sense. It was the computer of a young adult, her father asked me to look into it.
So at minimum there is a $500 item (Display assembly) and there might be a logic board also. ~$350. I’d say that this computer won’t get fixed. But I’ll keep it around. I have the same computer (as it happens) - Maybe I can use parts from it at some point. Thanks for helping!
I think I’m going to get one of those sleeves for my own computer! This is a nasty reminder of what can happen by accident.
