I’m having the same issue with my new Samsung 55” 4K tv at the minute. All buttons in my Samsung remote turns the tv off, the smart things smart app that usually controls tv also turns tv off and the buttons on the tv to control menus also turns tv off after the 2nd or 3rd click. I have tried the reset, batters out of controller, camera looking at flashing light etc. All never worked. I now am waiting on a Samsung engineer coming out to look at it. Tv is just 1 month old.

This has just happened with my panasonic smart tv. Every remote, including firestick turned tv off and then on (what ever button was pressed - this happened).

I solved the problem by performing a factory reset.

I performed this by going to the set up menu then system menu/shipping condition!!

Once reset, I went through the start up procedure, reconnecting to wifi etc.

AND YES, IT WORKED!!!!

Hi @ lloyd game

Just curious how you got through the TV menus as you said "Every remote, including firestick turned tv off and then on (what ever button was pressed - this happened)."

door

How did you get to system reset?

door

I had the problem but my TV just started working again after 10 minutes

Hi @popsthompson ,

What is the model number of the TV?

Does it also do this when using the various control buttons (Input, Vol Up and Down etc.) on the TV?

If it doesn't do this when using the control buttons it may be a problem with the IR sensor or sensor circuit in the TV.

If it doesn’t do this when using the TV control buttons is there a factory reset option in the TV menu options area that you can try?

Try a power refresh to see if this clears any corrupted data that may be stored in the TV.

Turn off the TV, turn off and totally disconnect the power from the TV, then press and hold the TV Power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power from the TV. Reconnect and switch on the power to the TV, turn on the TV and check what occurs when using the remote and the TV control buttons.

HI Jayeff, I will add that with my Panasonic TV, the power button worked, but no other buttons on my TV remote worked. Displayed on the TV "No Signal". I disconnected the power to the TV for 30 seconds, plugged it back in and all worked well. Thank you for providing this information .

Hi @lewiskane91 ,

What is the model number of the TV?

Just to eliminate it as a possibility, remove the batteries from the remote control and use the TV controls and check what happens.

Also check that none of the TV controls buttons are stuck in the operated position

Not expecting much but as i said just to eliminate it from the mix.

It may be a firmware problem.

Search online for Sony (insert model number) firmware and when you are on the Sony support page for the exact model check if there is any firmware information/downloads available.

If there are there is usually files that can be downloaded and loaded into a USB which can then hopefully be installed into the TV. There should be instructions on the website how to do this.

I think from memory that with Sony you don't have to go through the TV menu options to get it to install, rather the TV will detect the USB on startup and if the file name matches what it is looking for it will start the update process, but it may be different for your model, hopefully not

Be sure to get the CORRECT firmware for your EXACT model TV as loading the wrong firmware can "brick" the TV. Just so you're aware of this

Hi @lewiskane91 ,

Usually with the older TV you can update via USB as the newer ones want you to do it online only or go through the TV menu options, meaning the TV has to fully boot and be working.

Here's a link to how to update for Panasonic TV

To find the firmware search for "Panasonic (insert full model number) firmware".

Make sure that you get it from a Panasonic site and not a 3rd party.

Also if that doesn't work search for "Panasonic (insert full model number) service manual".

Panasonic manuals especially for the older models are usually to be found. They have good troubleshooting flowcharts etc which may help.

Good luck.

Same problem here. All of my remotes were turning off or on my tv.

What worked for me was this:

Take all batteries out of all remotes.

Turn tv off and on again with the on/off button on the tv.

Use buttons on the tv to scroll to retune.

Retune tv and when it’s finished, replace all batteries.

Everything worked fine after that for me.

Thanks so much! This resolved my issue! I didn’t have to retune. I just turned the tv on, took out the batteries in the cable and tv remotes, turned the tv off and back on with the side button, put the batteries back in and voila!

What you do is you turn the tv on. You don’t press anything (you let the tv stay on until it goes into screensaver mode.) You wait until the tv gives you the option to automatically shut down or stay on. At that time it should allow you to press “stay on”. After letting you press that, you should be back in your remote and able to run to your settings if you have to fix anything.

I removed batteries, push power to drain it, put batteries back on when a commercial started, test it. Hopefully it helps others. I did push all the other buttons just in case & slightly pulled on them my thoughts so buttons wont be touching the board. Have a great year.
