Would this Harddrive be compatible with my device?

Forgive if this is a stupid question..

My iMac is the Intel 20’ EMC 2133 or Apple iMac "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 20-Inch (Al) Specs"

My question is would this HDD- Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM SATA 3.5" Hard Drive HDD ST31000528AS fit and be compatible.

Thank you for any help.

Yes you’ll be fine with this drive its a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) which is the correct I/O for your system.

Go for it!

Don’t forget to create a bootable OS installer drive FireWire or CD.

Double check to see if the system is able to boot up with it '07 systems are on the cusp of needing FireWire or optical drive as the original USB 1.1 spec was still being used which didn't offer boot unlike 2.0 onward.

Press and hold the Option key to get to the Startup manager do you see the USB drive? If not you'll need FW or Optical

I did check because the old harddrive I believe to be is bad or corrupted or something. I did actually install the OS on it perfectly fine when I created a boot drive from my moms macbook. It just wouldnt do it on the CD. Still waiting on the harddrive.
