I know the 2018 has the T2 chip, but iFixit found that the repair block hasn’t (yet) been activated. I also know the 2018 screen has slightly longer flex cables to (hopefully) prevent the stagelight issue, but I’m wondering if the 2016/2017 screen assembly will function in the 2018 model. I can’t find any info online. Has anybody tried it yet?

Well for what its worth I would not waste the effort. I had ordered a display from China for a customer for a 2018 model and it took awhile to get. It didn’t work, I ended up having to return it and they claimed it wouldn’t work in the 2018 model only the 16 & 17. So clearly there is some differences.
You also have the fluxgate issue with the shorter ribbon cable in the 16/17 displays.
While it may cost more for now I would only put on another 2018 display on a 2018 system.

I am pretty sure the software wouldn’t work with it as there are specific drivers for computers built to work in certain hardware. There are always differences in different pieces of hardware that cause it to run differently. You could try it though I doubt it would work. It definitely will not look as good as it did before.

Thanks. But the 2016 and 2017 screens are interchangeable, as are the 2013 and 2014 screens. The 2018 ones look identical to the 2016 & 2017, hence my question.
Additionally, I'm finding sellers on eBay advertise their screens as for "Macbook Pro 15 2016 - 2018"
